Patrick Viette, Artiste peintre est autodidacte. Formé comme peintre décorateur par un maitre artisan parisien qui lui enseigne les méthodes anciennes de peinture décorative, il s’oriente vers les métiers d’art :
ornementations, imitations de bois, de marbres, etc. En parallèle il a toujours peint, pour lui, sans aucun
projet de carrière. Et pourtant… De nombreux appartements haussmanniens portent aujourd’hui sa
signature de renom. C’est aussi le cas de l’opéra de Hanoï, de l’Hôtel Victoria (Paris) ou encore de l’hôtel
Georges V… Si le peintre décorateur a conquis ses pairs et ses prestigieux clients, c’est aujourd’hui au
tour de l’artiste peintre d’exprimer son identité.
Pour lui, peindre était un loisir, envahissant certes, mais sans avoir en tête d’en faire un métier. Tout s’est fait progressivement. L’artisanat d’art l’amène peu à peu à réaliser des décors dans de très beaux appartements haussmanniens, puis des panoramiques réalisés sur toile qu’il marouflait ensuite chez les gens, des toiles de grand format, sans châssis… Une fresque en amenant une autre, vivre de son art est devenu une évidence.
Sa peinture est instinctive, très épurée. Son style est assez singulier. Il va à l’essentiel et travaille souvent au couteau, ce qui lui permet d’obtenir un rendu très particulier.
Adepte des grandes surfaces, il peint des sujets variés avec une préférence pour les scènes de natures.
Toujours figuratif il peut parfois être proches de l’abstraction. Il peint les contrastes ,d’une touche
précise, spontanée et instinctive.

Patrick Viette, a self-taught painter, was trained as a decorative painter by a Parisian master craftsman who taught him traditional decorative painting techniques. He then turned towards the applied arts: ornamentation, wood and marble imitation, and more. Alongside this, he always painted for himself, with no intention of pursuing a career as an artist. And yet… many Haussmann-style apartments now bear his distinguished signature. The same is true of the Hanoi Opera House, the Hôtel Victoria (Paris), and even the Hôtel George V. While the decorative painter earned the respect of his peers and prestigious clients, it is now the fine artist’s turn to express his own identity.
For him, painting began as a hobby — admittedly an all-consuming one — but never with the idea of making it a profession. Everything happened gradually. The world of decorative arts led him to create murals in magnificent Haussmann apartments, then panoramic works on canvas that he would later apply to clients’ walls, large-format pieces without stretchers… One fresco led to another, and living from his art eventually became self-evident.
His painting is instinctive and highly pared back. His style is quite distinctive. He focuses on the essential and often works with a palette knife, allowing him to achieve a very particular finish.
Fond of large surfaces, he paints varied subjects with a preference for natural scenes. Always figurative, his work sometimes approaches abstraction. He paints contrasts with a precise, spontaneous and instinctive touch.
